Studio overview
The Studio canvas, palette, and toolbar, and how to build, connect, and edit an architecture.
Studio overview Studio is the canvas where you design an architecture: drag components from the palette, connect them, and configure each node before you generate code or train. This page covers opening Studio, the layout, adding and connecting nodes, selecting and editing, the right click menu, the toolbar, zoom and auto-format, keyboard shortcuts, and the rule that keeps a design trainable while you delete nodes. Open Studio Open Studio from the nav /arch/studio . Opening it without a project shows Create New Project . You can close that dialog and sketch on the canvas first; Save as Project appears once the canvas has nodes. It opens Create New Project , and once you create the project it saves the canvas as version v1.0.0 with the message "Initial architecture". Create or open a project Set a Title required . , < Add a Description . , < Choose a Framework required : PyTorch, TensorFlow, or FLAX. , < Choose Visibility : Private or Public Public is the default . , < Add up to 10 Tags . , < Click Create Project . , / Private projects need access beyond the Free plan. See Billing & usage for your account's access, described in Account and plans /docs/getting-started/account , and ask through Support /support to request it during the beta. A link with ?project= opens that project at its latest saved version. Opening someone else's public project shows a notice "You're viewing 's project. Duplicate it to edit and train." with a Duplicate button that opens a copy of your own in Studio. You can still move and change nodes on their canvas, but you cannot save, generate code, train, share, or open version history there; Duplicate gives you an editable copy. Clicking the project title opens Edit Project Details , where you can also change the framework. The layout The left sidebar is resizable and can be hidden. It has three tabs: Layers , Data , and Blocks . A search box "Search components..." matches a component's name and description; categories collapse, and hovering a tile shows its full name and description. The canvas is where you drop components. There is no click to add: drag a tile onto the canvas "Drop component here" ; on a touch screen, press and hold the tile first. Add nodes Drag a component from the sidebar onto the canvas to add it. Connect nodes Connect nodes by dragging from one node's handle to another node's handle. Every connection you draw is drawn; problems show up afterward, not while you drag: a bad connection turns red and dashed with a "!" badge whose tooltip explains why, and a valid connection is green. Drag an edge's end to reconnect it to a different node, and double click an edge to delete it. Edges downstream of a bad connection turn grey until you fix it. Select and edit Click a node to select it. Shift, Ctrl, or Cmd click adds it to the selection, holding Shift while you drag across empty canvas draws a selection box, and clicking empty canvas deselects everything. Each node also has a more actions menu the dots in its header with Configure , Copy , Duplicate , and Delete . Configure selects the node; double click it to open its panel. Double click a node to open its configuration panel. From top to bottom it shows the node's title and description, a Node Information section its type, its ID, and the orientation toggle, Horizontal left to right or Vertical top to bottom , the Configuration parameters, its Inputs and Outputs , then Delete Node and Close . Valid edits apply immediately; an invalid value shows an error under the field and is not applied. Delete Node asks you to confirm first. The right-click menu Right click a node for Auto-format , Copy , Cut , Paste , Duplicate , and Delete . Copy , Cut , and Duplicate are greyed out on Input and Output nodes. With two or more nodes selected, the menu adds Create Block ; its Delete item does not remove a multi node selection, so press Delete or Backspace instead. Right clicking a block adds Expand Block or Compact Block once it is expanded , Save as new block⦠, and Unblock Nodes . The toolbar The toolbar carries Undo , Redo , Stats version, framework, total parameters, and a per layer type breakdown , Browse Hub , a toggle that shows or hides the minimap, the zoom controls, and the Auto-format panel, and Reset Canvas asks for confirmation: "This action cannot be undone" . Once the project exists, it also shows Version History , Share architecture , Generate , Train , and Save ; before that, it shows Save as Project once the canvas has nodes. The title area reads "Unsaved changes" or "Saved ". On a narrow screen the toolbar collapses into a single Toolbar actions menu. Zoom, minimap and auto-format The bottom left corner has zoom in, zoom out, fit view, and a lock the maximum zoom is 2x . The minimap sits in the bottom right and is hidden on small screens. The top right carries Auto-format , which lays the graph out Horizontal or Vertical. The scroll wheel pans the canvas; to zoom, hold Ctrl Cmd on a Mac while you scroll, pinch on a trackpad, or double click empty canvas. Keyboard shortcuts Keys Action --------------------- ------------------------------------ Ctrl/Cmd + Z Undo Ctrl/Cmd + Y Redo Ctrl/Cmd + C, X, V, D Copy, Cut, Paste, Duplicate Delete or Backspace Delete the selected nodes or edge Esc Deselect Tab, Shift + Tab Next or previous node Arrow keys Move the node 10px 50px with Shift Shift + Alt + F Auto-format ? Show or hide the shortcut overlay Deleting and the last Output or data source rule You cannot delete the only Output node, or the only data source an Input node or a Dataset node . If a selection would remove it, the rest of the selection is still deleted and a toast explains what stayed: "Add another Output node before deleting this one." or "Add another Input or Dataset node before deleting this one." To switch a design from an Input node to a Dataset node, add the Dataset node first, then delete the Input node. Reset Canvas is the exception: it still clears everything.
